Preparing for your DOT Physical
Call the office at (419)576-5070 to book your physical.
About the DOT Physical...
A DOT physical is an examination required for commerical motor vehicle (CMV) drivers by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. It allows the examiner to determine physical and mental fitness for opperating a CMV.

As a commercial driver you are responsible for the safety of those around you while operating the vehicle. Any loss of consciousness or awareness while driving can result in significant loss of life. For this reason, Fairchild Family Chiropractic is legally required to follow the guidelines set forth by the Department of Transportation.
What to expect during the exam...
During your exam, a certified medical examiner (CME) will review your medical history, medications, check your vital signs, and perform a physical exam that includes (but is not limited to):
  • General wellbeing
  • Vision test
  • Hearing evaluation
  • Heart
  • Lungs/chest
  • Abdomen
  • Dexterity/mobility
  • Nervous system
Once the CME has determined you meet the requirements set by the Department of Transportation, you will be issued a Medical Examiner's Certificate. This certificate is required to maintain your CDL and must be in your possession while opperating a CMV.

Commercial drivers with
insulin-treated diabetes mellitus and/or monocular vision must meet strict regulations and will require additional documentation from treating clinicians. This documentation must not be older than 45 days.
